🔥 The Call for Abstracts for X-Fire 2025 – 1st International Workshop on Extreme Wildfire Events is now officially open!

X-Fire 2025 aims to shape the scientific and operational agenda on extreme wildfire events. By bringing together leading experts across disciplines, the workshop offers a unique opportunity to share insights, build collaborations, and inform future research and practice.

📍 X-Fire 2025 will take place in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 23 to 25 September 2025, hosted by CERIDES – Excellence in Innovation and Technology under the COST Action NERO (CA22164).

Submission Guidelines

📖 We welcome oral or poster contributions related, but not limited, to the following themes:

A. Modeling of extreme wildfire events: Wildland fire behavior dynamics, Data Assimilation, Innovations in simulation and visualization techniques.

B. Observing extreme wildfire events: Remote sensing of extreme wildland fire behavior, Field campaigns, Innovations in sensor technology and data processing.

C. Drivers, trends, and future projections of extreme wildfire events: Environmental drivers and predictive methods, Climatologies and trends, Future projections.

Submission Deadline: 30 May 2025, 23:59 CEST (Brussels time)

⚠️ Abstract Submission Opens: 15 April 2025.
⚠️ Abstract Submission Closes: 30 May 2025.
⚠️ Notification of Abstract Acceptance: Second half of June 2025.

Financial Support

💰 Limited financial support will be available for eligible participants, based on COST Annotated Rules.
