Summary:
On 2 July 2025, a wildfire ignited in farmland near Ildır village, Çeşme, İzmir Province, Türkiye. Strong northeasterly winds (gusts up to 40 km/h) quickly drove the fire into dense maquis shrubland.

By 3 July, the fire had advanced about 5.1 km in just 2 hours and spread further southeast, fueled by dry vegetation and spotting. The burned area reached nearly 9,000 hectares, affecting forests, shrubland, farmland, and residential areas.

Impacts:

  • High fire rate of spread and extensive spotting
  • İzmir–Çeşme highway closed
  • Nearly 4 villages evacuated
  • Some fire fronts still active as of 3 July
