Venue: National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, Av. do Forte, 2794-112 Carnaxide, Portugal
The european Network on Extreme fiRe behaviOr (NERO) is pleased to announce its 1st Winter School, designed to advance knowledge and skills in reconstructing wildfire spread and estimating fire behavior descriptors such as the rate of spread. This hands-on training aligns with NERO’s mission to unite researchers and practitioners in understanding and mitigating wildfire risks.
What You’ll Learn
Participants will gain:
- Theoretical Knowledge: Remote sensing principles and data applications.
- Data Insights: Understanding satellite and airborne data sources and products.
- Practical Skills: Tools like Python and QGIS to reconstruct fire spread evolution and estimate wildfire behavior.
By the end of the Winter School, participants will be equipped to independently analyze past wildfire events, contributing to NERO’s broader objectives.
