Summary:
On 2 July 2025, a wildfire ignited in farmland near Ildır village, Çeşme, İzmir Province, Türkiye. Strong northeasterly winds (gusts up to 40 km/h) quickly drove the fire into dense maquis shrubland.
By 3 July, the fire had advanced about 5.1 km in just 2 hours and spread further southeast, fueled by dry vegetation and spotting. The burned area reached nearly 9,000 hectares, affecting forests, shrubland, farmland, and residential areas.
Impacts:
- High fire rate of spread and extensive spotting
- İzmir–Çeşme highway closed
- Nearly 4 villages evacuated
- Some fire fronts still active as of 3 July
